As a Connecticut homeowner, you know full-well how harsh the winters and summers can be here. One of the best ways to save on your energy bills for years to come is to update your home's insulation. Dr. Energy Saver Of Connecticut is a professional blown insulation contractor, catering to residential homes in Hartford County and nearby. Hop on the path to savings by contacting us today!

Dr. Energy Saver Of Connecticut likes using blown-in cellulose insulation for many homes due to the fact that it is one of the best types of insulation that can match or exceed the insulation value of fiberglass, with R-values as high as R-4 per inch. That is because, unlike fiberglass which doesn't stop air movement, cellulose does a good job of slowing or stopping air leaks that can waste energy and cause cold drafts. It is also eco-friendly, as it takes much less energy to manufacture than other types of insulation, and is even made from recycled newspaper. Plus, blown-in cellulose is resistant to fires, mice, and mold, so you can count on the insulation value lasting.

When we talk about ice dams, one of the most frequent questions we get asked is " how do I prevent or repair ice dams?".  Preventing ice dams is fairly simple with the use of proper insulation and air sealing. Job Stories From Hartford County, CT
Attic Insulation in Riverside, CT

This Cape Cod style home in Riverside, CT was beginning to seem drafty, and their energy bills were growing increasingly high. It was a cause for concern, and the family knew they needed a solution, and they needed one fast. They gave us a call at Dr. Energy Saver of Connecticut, and we were happy to help out!

After our Home Comfort Specialist came in, and diagnosed the problem was that their roof wasn't properly insulated, expert foreman, Rudy Abel, came out to get the job done. The first thing he did was air seal the attic. Believe it or not, more air leaks out of the home through the attic than anywhere else. Warm air naturally rises, and and attics are typically under-insulated and full of gaps and cracks. This allows the air you pay to heat to escape the house. By air sealing this space, it will help reduce this family's energy bills significantly. We then used blown-in insulation in the entire roof area. Blown in cellulose insulation is not only a great choice to use for attics, but it is also the most cost effective option. It is also treated so that it resistance to fire, mold, and insects. Best of all? It keeps air from floating down into the lower rooms of the home.

This family can now feel comfortable in their home knowing it'll be warmer, and their bills will become lower. Give us a call TODAY for your FREE energy evaluation!

Cellulose Insulation in Glastonbury, CT

This Glastonbury attic was poorly insulated which caused uneven temperatures throughout the home. This was a problem for the homeowners because they were tired of paying high electric bills due to the uneven temperatures. Wanting a solution, they called Connecticut Basement Systems of Connecticut to set an appointment!

Our System Design Specialist Keith Saunders arrived at the home to do a free home evaluation. He concluded that Blown-In Cellulose would be the perfect solution for this Glastonbury attic. With the approval from the homeowners, David Hicks and his team started the installation process.

First, all of the original fiberglass installation had to be removed. Once removed, the entire attic was air sealed. Next, the Blown-In Cellulose is applied. The Blown-In Cellulose is an excellent choice because it creates a blanket of insulation that has a thermal barrier to keep the home more comfortable and efficient. A catwalk was also created for convenience on HVAC maintenances and for storage purposes.

Now, the homeowners enjoy even temperatures throughout their entire house and notice a lower electric bill.

Blown Cellulose in Burlington, CT

This attic was completely uninsulated which caused for an uncomfortable home. The home was drafty and the homeowners were still paying a high electric bill which frustrated them. Wanting the best solution for their home, they decided to call Dr. Energy Saver of CT for their help.

On the day of the appointment, Sales Representative Chris Grosso arrived at the home and inspected the attic. Since the attic had little to no insulation, Chris highly recommended insulation in the attic. More specifically, he suggested installing blown cellulose which would be a superior way of insulating the attic. Blown cellulose is effective, safe and environmentally friendly. It offers a superior R-value compared to traditional fiberglass which will improve the home’s efficiency. This is exactly what the homeowner wanted and decided to move forward with the project.

On the day of installation, Rudy Abel and his crew installed the cellulose insulation professionally and efficiently. Once the project was completed, the attic was transformed. Immediately the homeowners noticed a difference in both their energy bill and the energy efficiency in their home!

Air Seal and Blown Cellulose in Bloomfield, CT

This Bloomfield homeowner was experiencing drafts in his home that were becoming a nuisance. Not only were they causing the homeowner to be uncomfortable in his own home, but he was paying a premium in his electric bill. Wanting a solution, he decided to contact the experts at Dr. Energy Saver of CT.

Sales Representative Keith Saunders went over the products that would create the perfect solution for his home. He recommended the attic to be air sealed and insulated with blown cellulose. This would seal up all air leakage and prevent any uneven temperatures in the home. This was the perfect solution and the homeowner wanted to move forward with the project.

David Hicks was the Foreman who installed the products efficiently and professionally. He first had to remove any existing insulation to have a fresh start. Then, he air sealed the cracks and openings that were in the attic. This would ensure that air leakage would not be a problem. Lastly, blown cellulose was installed where wooden dams were also placed to create a walkway in the attic that would be convenient for maintenance and for storage.

Once the project was completed, the homeowner was impressed with the results of the project. His home was more comfortable and he noticed a difference in his eclectic bill for the better.

Air Sealing and Cellulose in Marlborough, CT

This Marlborough, CT homeowner was experiencing uneven temperatures in his home. When the weather was hot, parts of his home often became uncomfortably warm. During the winter time, he often experienced drafts and cool spots throughout his house as well. Of course, this increased the cost of heating and cooling his house. Frustrated with his high energy bills and the uncomfortable temperatures in his home, he reached out to the experts at Dr. Energy Saver of CT  for a no obligation free estimate.

On the day of the appointment, Sales Representative Paul Zambrano traveled to the home to evaluate the issue. Paul introduced himself to the homeowner and started his work, looking around the house and inspecting it for areas of concern. It was not long before he realized that the attic was the source of the problem. Old fiberglass insulation in the attic had deteriorated and lost its ability to insulate effectively over time. When the weather was hot, the sun would heat the attic to extreme temperatures, and the hot air in the attic would make the rooms below uncomfortably warm. Additional air leaks in the attic also allowed air to flow freely in and out of the attic, compounding the problem and contributing to costly energy bills. In the winter, energy bills would be just as high, as heated air would flow freely up through the home and out of the attic. Paul shared his findings with the homeowner and proposed some products that would help resolve the problem. The two discussed the options for the issue at hand and the homeowner was encouraged by their conversation. As a result, the homeowner decided to move forward with the project.

Foreman Dan Kiley and Johnny Lopez arrived at the home with their crew on the day of production to begin their work. They started by removing all the old insulation from the attic, as it was no longer serving its intended purpose. Once the fiberglass was gone, the crew was able to access and identify the specific location of the air leaks in the attic. As they found the leaks, they used Spray Foam to Air Seal them. This is a crucial step in the insulation process because it prevents air flow and maximizes the effectiveness of insulation materials. Spray foam is a great material for Air Sealing because it provides superior R-value and acts as both a thermal and moisture barrier, plus it expands upon application to provide maximum coverage.

Once the air sealing was done, the crew finished up the attic by blowing in a thick layer of Cellulose Insulation. Cellulose provides an insulation value that is similar to fiberglass, but is much more durable and environmentally friendly. Cellulose is given a treatment with natural borate compounds that repels pests like rodents and insects, and also makes it fireproof. This ensures that the insulation remains effective over time and will not need to be replaced any time soon, which helps to make the most of your investment. Plus, cellulose is made primarily from recycled newspaper, and requires far less energy to manufacture than fiberglass, making it a “green” insulation option.

As the crew wrapped up production, the homeowner noticed an immediate difference in the comfort of his home. He was excited with the results and pleased with the manner in which the crew had conducted themselves throughout the project. The homeowner was happy with his investment and could not wait to see how much he would save on his energy bills in the months ahead.
