It’s getting chilly out! Is your home properly insulated? Be aware of the stack effect in your home!
Homeowners fall victim to paying for heated or cool air that just leaks through the cracks and opening of an attic. Be sure to know where the heated or cool air you are paying is going to. This is why it is important to know how the stack effect works.
Stack Effect: The heated air you pay for rises and it creates positive pressure. This pressure can leak out through the attic from various cracks and holes. Negative pressure is created at the bottom of the home which pushes cold air up to replace the air that leaked out. This constant flow of pressure acts like a vacuum in a home and can result in a high electric bill every month. Not only does this affect the air flow in your home but it also can affect moisture and the overall comfort and health of your home. So, what can be done to solve this stack effect?
