Deck Your Halls With Insulation!

The sleigh bells may ring, and the snow may glisten, but there is no denying the fact that Connecticut winters are some of the coldest around. With family coming into town, and holiday plans making their way into your calendar, it's safe to say you'll want a warm home for entertaining. At Dr. Energy Saver of Connecticut, we are here to offer you tips to keep your guests happy, warm, and cozy!

Keep that holiday feeling with a little air sealing!

Is that one room in your house feeling a little uncomfortable, and is your cousin from out of town complaining about it? Are your utilties bills noticeably higher? Chances are, your home isn't properly air sealed.  Air leakage happens throughout the home as the air you pay to condition slips through cracks, joints, and other openings. This process naturally forces your system to work harder, and often makes your home way too cold in the winter. Here at Dr. Energy Saver of Connecticut, we specialize in air sealing, and work hard to find the exact places where air is slipping into your home via our blower door test. Best of all? The energy efficiency test is completely free!

Got a cold clan? It might be an ice dam.

If there is one thing that is no fun, ice damming is certainly one that sticks out. If you don't know what an ice dam is, it commonly known as a ridge of ice that forms at the edge of a roof and prevents melting snow (water) from draining off the roof. The water that backs up behind the dam can leak into a home and cause damage to walls, ceilings, insulation, and other areas. The deeper the snow, the more severe the problem is going to be. At Dr. Energy Saver of Connecticut, we believe air sealing and insulating your attic is the perfect solution to making sure these damaging dams don't occur. By using a spray foam insulation, we are able to insulate and seal air ducts, and keep cold air from sinking into the attic, which can cause the heavy damage these icy enemies bring.
